Abstract. The article deals with the problem of political elite effectiveness which is under-investigated in modern social sciences. Professional effectiveness of political elite is observed as one of its most important characteristics. The basic methodological approaches of studying effectiveness are singled out and analyzed. The examined approaches are necessary for theoretical and empirical research of political elite effectiveness.
