Abstract. This publication is a review of the book Russia in the Great War of 1914-1918. The images and texts, prepared by the team of authors and edited by A.K. Sorokin and A.Yu. Shutov in the context of joint activity of the Russian Society of Political Scientists,Faculty of Political Science of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian State Archive of Social and Political History. The reviewer characterizes the specifics of the publication which represents an attempt to reveal the atmosphere of the century-old events, semantic plots, images of people and their actions through the photographs from the pages of periodicals, posters and cartoons, leaflets and official documents of the First World War.
