Abstract. The article analyses modern migration processes in the regions subjected to an economic crisis as a result of globalization changes. The attention to geopolitical position of the Caspian region and the role of Russia in ethno-political processes is focused on, and also conflict potential in republics of the Caucasus are considered.

Key words: migration, conflict potential, geopolitics, globalization, European space, ethnopolitical conflict.
