Abstract. Works of the researchers who were engaged in studying of mirrors of Sarmatians are analysed. The basic debatable questions on problems of typology, chronology, genesis of Sarmatian mirrors are designated. Possible variants of application by Sarmatians of mirrors in a funeral ceremony are considered. Main objectives and problems for the further studying of Sarmatian mirrors, as a historical source are defined.
