Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the social state’s functional system. Approaches to definition of the social state’s functions, concepts «social functions of the state» and «function of the social state» are considered. The problem of the parity of economic and social functions of the social state is analyzed. The author’s concept of the prevailing functions of a social state is offered.
