Abstract. The article reveals the attitude of the magazine «Russkaya mysl’» to the problems of peacekeeping in the 80-ies of the 19th century. The views of publicists on arbitration, the codification of humanitarian law, arms race and the possibility of achieving everlasting peace are considered.
