Abstract. The article analyzes the problems, associated with the attempts of falsification of the main factors and prerequisites of the Second World War and the role of individual States in its completion. The author stresses the inadmissibility of equating the policy of Hitler’s Germany and the Soviet Union, so characteristic of many modern researchers of the era in the West.
