Abstract. This article considers the situation in the South Caucasus, which has developed as a result of the Russian-Georgian conflict of 2008. Using the example of Georgia, it is demonstrated that there is a possibility and necessity of using a non-linear theory when analyzing the processes of democratic transit in the post-soviet area. The author compares the transformation processes in some countries of central and Eastern Europe with other countries, where the «color revolutions» took place. The particularity of the author’s approach is the application of synergetic methodology in the analysis of the transformation of Georgian national interests.

Key words: national interest, democratic transit, political system, integration, disintegration.
