Abstract. The article deals with ethnographical data on Sarmatians’ house-keeping and way of life. The data are based on the following antique manuscripts: «The Geography» by Strabo, «De Origine et situ Germanorum», «Annals», and «The Histories» by Tacitus, «Natural History boo» by Pliny the Elder, «Chorographie» by Pomponius Mela, «The Geography» by Ptolemy, «The History» by Ammianus Marcellinus, etc.

Key words: the Sarmatians, the Aorsi, the Siraces, the Roxolani, the Iazyges, the Alans, nomads, cataphract, spear, Tanais, Maeotia, European Sarmatia, Asian Sarmatia, Strabo, wagon.
