Abstract. In the article the history of development of the basic administrative institutions in the Cossack Don Army is analyzed in terms of qualitative characteristic changes, identification of the key trends of the development and its contemporary state.

Key words: Cossack institutions of administration, Krug, atman, trends in administrative institution development, Cossack’ register organizations.
