Abstract. This article deals with the «Salwa Judum» organization acting in the Chattisgarh state, India. Since 2005 it has been fighting against local Maoists and their supporters. It traces the origin of «Salwa Judum», its tactics and strategy, the authorities’ attitude to this organization and gives the chronology of the main events. The author has to answer whether the organization in view was created spontaneously by people or it is a state-sponsored anti-naxalite instrument.
