Abstract. The article is dedicated to the question of social development of the Russian province in the middle of the 17th century. The research is based on the analysis of the documents from RGADA funds. It defines the importance of ‘sluzhilye lyudi’ old services and presents the process of their ousting by representatives of new mode military regiments.
