Abstact. The article contains the analysis of the relations between the State and the Church in Astrakhan and Volgograd bishopric in the second half of 1950-s and the reasons of Archbishop Sergius (Larin) displacement. The investigation is based on the data of Volgograd State Archive and regional periodicals (1958–1960).
